Accessing local and remote file systems
Principles
11.. PPuurrppoossee
At boot time, _L_i_n_u_x reads the file /etc/fstab. This file describe all
partition and network volume will access. This file describe the
following relation.
╖ Where do we find the resource ?
╖ Where it goes ?
╖ What type is it ?
╖ Which options apply ?
The current menu present the first 3 lines and add the size (when
available) of the partition. When the partition is of type _D_O_S, the
_D_O_S drive letter is appended as a reference.
22.. NNoottiiccee
Beware that the operation you are about to do only define the mapping
between resources (hard drive partitions or network volumes) and your
local file-system tree.
Removing a line from this menu does not affect the data at all. On the
other end, if you remove a line, and you reboot you will find an empty
directory where you used to find the data of the resource. The data is
still there, but the connection is not done.
